President Ali Abdullah Saleh has called on protesters in southern provinces to come to dialogue and offer "legal" requests, but denounced opposition parties' "negative stand towards national issues".

In a long speech at the Military Academy in Sana'a on Monday, Saleh called leaders in the southern al-Heraq (movement) to engage in talks to solve their issues.

"The state is ready to listen to their grievances. So we say: come to talk with your brothers in the authority, and we will talk with you. We extend the hand of dialogue without (your) having to resort to violence or blocking roads or raising the flag of separation," President Saleh said.

"I am certain the flags of separation will burn in the days and weeks ahead. We have one flag we voted on with our free will. We welcome any political demands. Come to dialogue," he said.

President Saleh accused the Joint Meeting Parties, opposition coalition, of "supporting separation calls and riots in south, war in north, blocking roads and criminal acts in some province."

President Saleh said that his party had made a “big mistake” when it signed an agreement with the JMP in February last year to delay the parliamentary elections for two years (until GPC and JMP solve problems related to the electoral system). He described the JMP as "sick powers".

“We tell those parties that we will do the parliamentary elections with or without the JMP participation. So they should wisely review their stands,” Saleh said.

The Joint Meeting Parties have recently condemned in a press statement "the security crackdown in southern provinces in which some people were killed and some others were injured including security personnel."

The JMP has threatened to organize more anti-government peaceful rallies in several provinces and urged its supporters and people to "avoid clashes with the security forces and keep on peaceful protests."

Securiy continue crackdown in Abyan, Lahj and al-Dale for capturing people alleged carried out sabptage acts.
