Local residents in The Sarwah district have accused local authorities in Marib province of causing hundreds of displaced families in al-Rawda area to be trapped in the Marib dam, demanding their quick rescue.

They explained that the authorities in the province closed the canals of the dam until it filled and overflowed over large areas, causing the besieging of the displaced, adding "the displaced in al-Rawda mount behind them and a river that is being flooded in front of them by the flooding of the Marb dam."

They stressed that the local authorities, who are supposed to move to rescue the displaced people trapped since Eid, are showing recklessness and indifference and have done nothing so far.

Three people drowned in the water flowing from the Marib dam on Sunday, while residents in Marib province issued distress calls to evacuate and evacuate hundreds of displaced families trapped for days.

Local residents said that 300 families of displaced Saroah were besieged by the waters of the Marib Dam, which has been flooded by rising levels in its lake to record levels over the past few days, which has been besieged for five days in al-Rawda area.

According to residents, the flowing water in these areas has led to the death of three drowned citizens, while displaced families are in danger of drowning if they are not rescued.

Human rights sources revealed more than 300 trapped families in the north-west of al-Rawda and more than 400 others trapped in the south-east, as well as more than 450 families displaced in the areas of Al-Hayal, Al-Sa'ain, Al-Marikh and Crafts.

The sources explained that the floods caused by the heavy rains that hit Marib province and neighboring provinces led to the displacement of these families after they lost their homes and livestock and everything related to housing shelter, as well as lost basic services such as water and electricity.

Meanwhile, a number of al-Ta'iman sought humanitarian organizations to open a transit line to provide safe drinking water to displaced people and trapped residents of the kindergarten, stressing that aid through mafia gangs should not be the brotherhood's authority.

They added that "the Brotherhood's authority in Marib is putting supervisors of this aid linked to extremist organizations that are alien to Yemen and the region, and invests aid politically by purchasing loyalties from simple people taking advantage of their needs, as well as using them to strengthen the Brotherhood organization in implementation of regional plans", they did not disclose.
