5,000 families in al-Tuhaita district in al-Hodaidah province suffer from famine as 3,000 receive two free meals a day of two UAE Red Crescent's bakeries.

The two bakeries give two Rotis, two pieces of bread, but their size are small at a time the people in the city suffer from a real famine disaster.

The famine now is remembered by the Scabies that struck the district late 2012 and 2013 until mid 2014.

The UAE Red Crescent Society is the only humanitarian organization that has reached the district of al-Tuhaita and extended humanitarian aid to the people.

The famine crisis spread, including the people in the areas of al-Ghareeb and al-Faza in the west, al-Shabelia in the east side till al-Tefaf in the south and al-Matenah in the south, according to civil observers said to Newsyemen.

Humanitarian access to these areas could not be reached by the minefields planted by the Houthi militias, as well as by the hysterically launched missiles on populated areas of al-Tuhaita.

Last September, the Houthi militia targeted a WFP-assisted aid truck as it crossed the road to al-Tuhaita, causing the stop of the all food aid to the residents' region.
