Malnutrition threats al-Tuhaita’s children

The child Mohammed was rushed from his village in al-Tuhaita in the west coast, south al-Hodeidah to Aden city to receive life-saving treatment.

Mohammed suffers from complications of acute malnutrition. A few days ago, another child died of severe malnutrition.

The malnutrition along the Tehama West Coast came due to the spread of malaria, especially the lack of treatment of at local health centers.

According to residents, there are difficulties to move among urban centers because of  the siege imposed by Houthi militias on main roads.

Al-Tuhaita district center was liberated by the Joint Military forces and now it is daily targeted by the Houthi militias’ projectiles, machine-guns.

A child Hasan Salem Qatab, 03, has passed away due to the acute malnutrition. The child was rushed at a hospital on Monday 10 Dec. in Aden City, a Newsyemen correspondent said.

Statistics released by the Public Health and Population Office in al-Khokha late Nov. last year that 350 children were infected with acute malnutrition.

According to the statistics, 80% of the children are internally displaced persons to displacement camps in al-Khokha district.
