Houthi landmines caused 45 casualties in Shabwa last year

The second phase of the Mine Risk awareness Program had completed in three districts of Shabwa province, funded by the UNICEF.  

45 people were killed and wounded during the past year by Houthi landmines in Shabwa province, seven were killed, including three children, and thirty eight were injured, including 23 children.

The UNICEF funded the second phase of the Mine Risk awareness in three districts of Shabwa, Bayhan, Ain, Usaylan, for 41,478 children out of 54,257, distributed in 9 teams over 40 days, under the Supervision of the Anti-Landmine Center.

The Houthi militias planted large quantities of mines and improvised explosive devices during the period of its control of Shabwa province, deliberately planting roadside bombs in agricultural farms, causing hundreds of civilian casualties.
