UN condemns Houthi massacre on children in al-Hodeida

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said that “Every day, eight children are killed or injured in 31 active conflict zones in the country and the talks and conferences so far have done little to change the reality of children".

In a statement issued Saturday, Henrietta Fore, the executive director of the UNICEF, said that the recent violent deaths of five children playing inside their home in al-Tuhaita district in al-Hodeida province In reference to the massacre carried out by the group Houthi on residential neighborhoods on the district.

“In Yemen, children can no longer do the things that all children love to do, like go to school or spend time with their friends outside. War can reach them wherever they are, even in their own homes,” he lamented.

The UN official official also confirmed that only a “comprehensive peace agreement” could give Yemeni children the pardon for the violence and war they need and deserve.

It is worth to mention that the Houthi shelling on al-Hodeida districts killed or injured a number of casualties, including children and women.
