The Human Rights Office in al-Jawf province has reported that at least 5,000 violations were committed by the Houthi militias, the Iranian arm in Yemen, against women in province within two years.

Among the violations were 22 murders and 83 injured cases between 2016 and the end of 2018, the office said.

Violations included the prevention of 50 girls in enrolling at a college in the province center, as well as psychological cases resulting from the continuing violations of women.

The Office called upon the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to intervene urgently to stop the series of Houthi abuses against women in the province, to take protective measures for them and to put an end to the perpetrators of such crimes.
