The Governor of Shabwa Mohammed Saleh bin Edeiw and the chairman of the Transitional Council in the province Mohsen al-Sulaimani opened on Tuesday al-Houta Secondary School in Mayfa'a district, funded by the UAE.

Al-Houta area was one of the hideouts of al-Qaeda terrorist organization in Shabwa province before the Shabwa Elite Forces backed by the UAE armed forces within the Arab Coalition purged the area and expelled al-Qaeda elements finally.

Al-Qaeda's rule on al-Houta has deprived the area of a High School despite being populated, the students had to go Azzan city about 10 KM away.

The UAE Red Crescent Authority signed an agreement in February last year to construct a secondary school in al-Houta city.
