A military checkpoint in Taiz province seized a medium-sized transport truck carrying out Africans in a smuggling operation on its way to areas under the control of the Houthi militias.
A military source told Newsyemen that the checkpoint in al-Shamayaten district, in a routine check, disclosed the presence of 60 Somalis on the truck.
The Somalis, including 37 women, were transferred to al-Turbah Police Station to take further procedures, the source said, adding that it has been contacted with the UNHCR in Aden.
According to the source, the Somalis were detained while on their way to Rada'a district in al-Baida province to work with their relatives in Khat farms.
