Houthis Customs loots vehicles' owners in Sana'a, dedicates Secession

The Houthi militias carry out widespread corruption, especially in the Customs Revenues, violating the Constitution and the law of the Republic of Yemen.

In the capital, Sana'a, the Customs Authority, run by the Houthi militias, collect customs revenues for cars' owners at a time the cars' owners have been already paid customs revenues in Yemen's ports or Yemen's outlets, controlled by the Legitimate government.

The Houthi militias used to take 30 percent of the total customs value for each car, while the percentage currently rose 50 percent, the cars' owners said to Newsyemen.

The sources added that Customs officials have threatened drivers to take the advantage of the deadline given by the Authority to pay customs, unless the rate will be raised to 100% , and drivers will pay new customs.

The Car's owners said that actions were carried out by the Houthi militias in the Customs Office in the Capital Sana'a apply the principle of Separation, saying "such as we live in another country and not in the Republic of Yemen."

They stressed that some brokers in the Customs Department take bribes by the cars' owners in exchange for reducing fees to pass their transactions quickly
