Four fall in sewage in Marib city, two died, two still missing

Dozens of "sewage" wells collapsed in streets in Marib city in the last few months, causing the death and injury of a number of citizens and substantial damage to dozens of vehicles that have collapsed inside th sewage wells.

Four civilians were fell on Friday in a sewage well in one of Marib markets in the city, two of them are still missing.

A local source told Newsyemen a sewage well fell in the market of Mabkhout Abbod al-Sharif, the chairman of Islah Party in Marib, caused the fall of four civilians while they were riding their motorcycles.

Two of the cyclists were rescued while the other two were still missing, he added.

He accused contractors of not implementing projects according to schemes with the complicity of officials in executive offices, and the lack of follow-up by the authorities concerned to take deterrent action against them.

He confirmed the collapse of more than 30 wells, during the past two months only, causing substantial damage to citizens caused by the fall of cars and motorcycles inside.

The source explained that the corruption crimes rampant in the implementation of paving asphalt road, as well as granting of licenses for the random drilling led to the collapse of dozens of sewage wells in the city.

The source pointed out that the sewage on the main streets of Marib city has become familiar to the population, in disregard of the local authorities in the oil province of Marib, and the lack of solutions to the problem despite the huge revenues pumped to its reserves from the oil sectors
