The Houthi militias, the Iranian arm in Yemen, launched a raid on shops and stores in the Capital Sana'a Tuesday under the pretext of controlling the new currency.

The Houthi militias closed a number of shops, including the CityMax Trade Center, which refuses to deal with the new currency, trade sources told Newsyemen that the militias confiscated large sums of new money from a number of shops.

The sources added that the militias confiscated funds from computer shops in Sakhr Street, the clothing shops in Hadda, al-Maqaleh and Hayel streets, and more than Y.R 20 million were confiscated under pretext of not allowing the new currency or dealing with it.

The sources confirm that these campaigns are carried out by leaders of the National Security Service, which take these amounts and shared them with militia leaders, especially owners of large malls such as CityMax, and forced trade owners to pay royalties to militia leaders.

Sources have revealed to Newsyemen the militias' confiscation of new cash currency to be sent to Sa'ada province

Some Houthi supervisors have been seen using the new currency in commercial centers and khat markets, which the sources considered as evidence that the Houthi's anti-money campaign is nothing but a robbery and blackmail against the people.

The General Staff at the Ministry of Defense in Marib province held the local authority and its security and military services in Taiz and Lahj provinces the responsibility of the life and security of the  Brigadier Jamal al-Shamiri.
