Qahtan: Aden customs revenues rise 40%

Mohsen Qahtan, a Director General of Aden Free Zone Customs, announced that customs revenues and other revenues during the first half of this year increased by 40% compared to the same period last year

Qahtan explained that the total value of customs revenues and other revenues for the first half of this year, exceeded 43 billion and 77 million riyals, recording 12 billion and a half billion riyals, up from last year of 30 billion and 559 million riyals

He pointed out that the financial revenues of other revenues rose 70% during the first six months of this year and achieved 26 billion and 549 million riyals, compared to 10 billion and 952 million riyals for the same period of 2018

Qahtan attributed the increase in customs financial revenues in the first half of this year to the collection of value-added in advance at the outlets of merchants in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. (89) of 2018

Qahtan said that the number of containers handled in customs exceeded 70 thousand and 690 containers, and more than 643 tons of non-human commodities were destroyed including food, medicine, toys and others

He said that 48 cases were seized including military supplies - hidden cameras - excessive amounts of acknowledgment ... and others

He added that the value of domestic exports amounted to 9 billion and 119 million riyals during the past six months, including frozen fish, cigarettes, dairy, sweets ... and others

The Director General of Aden Free Zone Customs pointed out that the customs is suffering from weakness in the electrical network, as the work is automated and depends on the electrical network and electric current and the lack of asphalting of trucks and the lack of safety system for extinguishing, these problems we will work to solve in the near future, he concluded
