The UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, unveiled a new plan (..) handed over to the Yemeni government and the Houthis to respond to it, and on the stalled path to the implementation of the Hodeida agreement

It was not clear what the parameters and details of the plan were, but UN sources confirmed Griffiths' primary objective of the broader political process and final solution negotiations

The Un spokesman said that the Yemeni government and the Houthis sent to The Special Envoy of The Secretary-General of Yemen Martin Griffiths their views on his proposal on the implementation of the Hodeidah Agreement, which provides for an immediate cease-fire and joint redeployment from the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, Ras Issa and Medina Iron

Griffiths confirmed that he had received an official response from one side, while waiting for an official response from the other side, according to UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric

"Mr. Griffiths said he looked forward to receiving the official response in the next few days," Dujarric told reporters. The proposal was submitted to the two sides in early August for consideration, with the aim of generating the momentum needed to implement the important and fundamental steps in the agreement and allow the parties to engage in a broader political process and reach a negotiated political settlement of the conflict

To date, the Agreement has made little progress. The agreements and outcomes of five joint meetings of the Coordinating Committee chaired by Lolisgaard remained a dead letter

Military escalation continues increasingly on various fronts and areas of the coastal city of Hodeidah in western Yemen and in the south of the province
