International Business Times reported, that terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS have recovered and stepped up their attacks, taking advantage of the current conflict in southern Yemen.

Yemeni observers associate the revival of these organizations with Islah's growing domination of Hadi's government.  Historically, the Islah Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen, along with AQAP and ISIS, shared a similar agenda and vision in the war-torn country.

It is also reported that, Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, Yemen's vice president, who is a member of Islah Party, to have close links to these extremist groups.

Reports indicate that the internationally-wanted leader Abu al-Bara al-Baidani was seen fighting alongside Hadi's forces against the Southern Transitional Council in Shabwa governorate, according to the newspaper.

Although the Yemeni government denies the presence of members of al-Qaeda fighting in the ranks of its forces, but many media have published pictures of known elements of al-Qaeda fighting alongside Islah fighters against the transitional forces in different parts of Shabwa governorate.
