Report: 3544 forcibly disappeared by the Houthis from 2014 to December 2018

The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations said that it documented 3,544 cases of enforced disappearance in Yemen during the period from September 2014 to December 2018 in a number of governorates.

The rights activist Murad al-Gharati said in a symposium organized by the Monitoring Coalition, on Saturday, at the Human Rights Council in Geneva on enforced disappearance and the economic situation in Yemen, that among the hidden 64 children, 15 women and 72 elderly, in the governorates of Sana'a, Albaida, Hodeidah, Taiz, Hajja and Ibb.

He pointed out that the Houthi militia process is kidnapping and concealment against politicians, human rights activists and journalists from the locations of their homes and business headquarters and from streets and public roads between cities.


He called on the international community to put pressure on the Houthi militia to uncover the whereabouts of the disappeared, to determine their fate, to stop enforced disappearances, to require the Houthi militia not to repeat, to hold accountable all those who concealed a person and to redress the victims, and to condemn all enforced disappearances carried out by the Houthi militia.
