For five years, the Houthi militias, the Iranian arm in Yemen, have been re-instilling a culture that glorifies the imamate and looting Yemenis millions of riyals under the name of supporting the war effort and forcing citizens to pay monthly contributions.

Recently, Houthi militias have doubled traffic charges in the capital Sana'a, which is under their influence, to exorbitant amounts.

Traffic sources said the militia imposed a 700% increase on various traffic transactions, including the issuance of licenses.

People complained that the license fees rose to 10,000 riyals from 1,500.

This comes shortly after the Houthi militia decided to pay new duties on car customs up to 30 percent in addition to basic customs, in an effort to blackmail residents and get more money.
