Ibn Brik to UN official: internationally wanted elements operating under the cover of "legitimacy"

The President of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (NTC), Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, affirmed the Council's support for all efforts of UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths for peace and reaching a political settlement and just positive solutions.

This came during a meeting, Saturday, Masaki Watanabe, Deputy Director of Political Affairs Office of the Special Envoy to Yemen, in the city of Aden in southern Yemen.


The meeting discussed recent developments in Aden and the southern governorates in general, as well as the Jeddah consultations called for by Saudi Arabia between the Transitional Council and legitimacy.


Major General Bin Brik pointed out the interaction of the Southern Transitional Council and meet the call of brothers in Saudi Arabia to dialogue and address the crisis and its commitment to calls for calm and stop military operations and field despite repeated violations by the legitimacy forces of the Muslim Brotherhood wing and continue to mobilize militarily and bring terrorist elements to the provinces of Shabwa and Abyan.

The recent events in Aden and the governorates of Abyan and Shabwa have greatly helped to uncover the presence of internationally wanted terrorist elements by Interpol operating under the guise of a legitimate government.  He noted the efforts made by the security belt forces in Aden, Abyan and the elites in Hadramout and Shabwa in the fight against terrorism.


He confirmed that the Southern Transitional Council is an ally of the Arab coalition in fighting the Iranian tide and Houthi militias and an ally of the international community in combating and eliminating terrorism.


Masaki Watanabe, deputy director of political affairs at the office of the UN special envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffiths, said the transitional council delegation's dialogue with the Saudi-led government is very important not only for negotiations but for citizens.


Masaki stressed the UN support for the dialogue in Jeddah and the importance of reaching positive results through it, in addition to supporting all efforts to continue the work of UN organizations and international organizations and provide services in all areas and normalization of life and not to prejudice the services associated with the lives of civilians or attempts to disrupt them and work in accordance with international standards  .
