The office of the UN special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths has arrived in Sanaa on a two-day visit, Tweeted on Twitter

The international envoy arrived in Sana'a with his assistant, Mo'in Shraim, from the Jordanian capital Amman, where his permanent office is located.

During the visit, Griffiths is expected to discuss with the Houthi militia leadership the issue of prisoners and detainees, the truce with Saudi Arabia, and the implementation of the Stockholm agreement.

The UN official urged Yemeni parties to renew their commitment to exchange prisoners and detainees, as agreed in Stockholm.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Houthi militia prevented a UN human rights official from entering the country and forced his plane to take off shortly after landing at Sanaa International Airport.

The move followed a scathing report by experts commissioned by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights detailing militia abuses during the war, including sexual violence against women in Houthi-run prisons.
