Electricity price has increased in the capital Sanaa and areas controlled by Houthi militias in an unprecedented way since the beginning of October; because of what electricity generating companies say is a rise in diesel prices.

Sources at one of the power generating companies in the capital told Newsyemen that the militias of the Houthi, are the reason for this crazy rise in electricity prices, both because of the fabrication of a crisis of diesel and oil products, or because of allowing electricity generating companies to raise prices in this way.

The power companies in the capital Sana'a raised the prices of one kilowatts from 240 riyals to 340 riyals, an increase of 100% at once, in addition to raising the prices of monthly subscriptions in different rates from one company to another since the beginning of October.

According to sources in the power companies, the price raising was carried out with the approval of the Houthi militia leaders in the Ministry of Electricity, who had previously issued a circular to those companies that the price per kilowatt should be only 240, However, they stood in silence for the process of price manipulation by companies that sell electricity to citizens because most of these companies are owned by leaders of Houthi militias, while others pay money to the militias in exchange for allowing them to raise prices on citizens as they wish.
