A ship loaded with oil derivatives arrived in the western port of Hodeidah on Thursday, while two ships entered on Friday after being granted entry permits from Arab coalition forces.

A source said that three ships loaded with gasoline and diesel entered the port of Hodeidah, and unloaded, amid discretion by the Houthi militia.

The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, has not announced the entry of ships to Hodeidah port, indicating its intention to transport oil products for sale on the black market at fantastic prices.

For more than half a month, the Houthi-controlled areas have been experiencing a severe crisis in oil derivatives, which has led to a dramatic rise in prices and a rebound in the black market where they are sold at twice their official price.

The Houthis are fomenting fuel crises in order to put pressure on the United Nations to introduce oil derivatives ships belonging to private companies Houthi leaders.

At every meeting with UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, the Houthi leaders are keen to raise the issue of allowing the entry of oil derivatives ships belonging to the group's merchants, as well as their threats to target navigation in the Red Sea.
