Houthi militias, have asked districts leaders to impose an additional 100 riyals above the price of a gas cylinder that will be distributed to citizens starting next week, according to local sources

The militias obliged the leaders to supply these amounts to their supervisors in the districts and lanes of the capital weekly under the justification of processing to celebrate the Prophet's birthday distinctively this year.

According to the sources, the militia leaders punished the head of the neighborhoods who refused to add additional money to the prices of gas cylinders to prepare a convoy for its fighters on the anniversary of its coup on power and the armed takeover of state institutions on September 21 by stopping weekly gas rations for their neighborhoods and reducing the number of times they receive gas to two or once a month.

The capital Sana'a and the areas of control of the Houthi militias are witnessing a domestic gas crisis and the spread of the black market, where the price of a gas cylinder reached 13,000 riyals and in some areas to 20,000 riyals, while the militias allowed the sale of imported gas through stations for buses and transport vehicles after raising the price to 4700 riyals and after the delay of distribution for more than two weeks.

The Houthi militias deliberately fabricate repeated crises in oil and gas derivatives ahead of each sectarian or special occasion, opening the door to the spread of the black market to sell these materials in order to finance their activities.
