The Specialized Criminal Court of Appeal, which is controlled by the Houthi militias in Sana'a, has sentenced a displaced citizen to death.

According to judicial sources, the Criminal Court of Appeal upheld a preliminary judgment issued in May 2018, which sentenced the citizen Abdul Rahman al-Shaybah for “collaborating” in favor of the Arab Coalition, describing this charge as “the popular Houthi accusation against the kidnapped, the journalists and politicians.”

It explained that the convicted person, Abdul Rahman al-Shaibah, was denied the right to a lawyer in the court of first instance, and that he and every lawyer appealed, but the court ignored the reasons for the appeal and upheld the initial death sentence in a single hearing.

In February 2017, Houthi militia abducted Abdul Rahman al-Shibah from his residence in a camp for displaced people in al-Qafla area of   Amran governorate, where he and his family are displaced from Sa'da governorate as a result of the war.
