Haq prepares to publish a comprehensive report of violations by the Brotherhood militia in Shabwa

Haq is preparing to publish a special human rights report documenting the violations and crimes committed by the Islah Party, the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, against the people of Shabwa province in southeast Yemen.

The organization said in a communique that its team completed yesterday (Friday) its field work program on monitoring and documenting violations and crimes committed by government forces and a militia belonging to the Islah Party against civilians in a number of areas and cities of Shabwa governorate during the period from August to October 2019.

The head of Haq Organization for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms, Khader al-Maysari, said that the team of the organization returned to its headquarters in the city of Zanzibar in Abyan province after he finished his field landing to a number of areas in Shabwa.

He noted that the Panel had held numerous meetings and interviews with civilian victims and families of victims of abuses in Shabwa, including killings, extrajudicial executions, inhumane treatment and arbitrary arrests.

Al-Maysari added that the team worked hard to move, disembark and meet the victims and their families in the distant areas and villages of Shabwa and to verify the testimonies attached to the documents, medical reports and eyewitness testimonies who were at the scene.

He pointed out that Haq Organization for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms is currently working on issuing a comprehensive human rights report on these human rights violations in Shabwa, after monitoring, investigating and documenting them during the field landing in the governorate.
