Turkey thanks Qatar for funding its invasion of northern Syria

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu revealed on Sunday that the Qatari government financed the invasion by Turkish forces in northern Syria and the establishment of what it calls the "safe area".
"I met with the prince of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa, in Doha, and conveyed to him the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and thanked Qatar for funding the operation," the Turkish minister said.
Turkey did not say how much money Qatar had poured in support of the Turkish military operation, which Erdogan sought to persuade US and European governments to co-finance and failed.
