Signing the Riyadh Agreement between the Legitimacy and the Transitional Council

On Tuesday afternoon, Riyadh agreement was signed between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council, in the presence of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and President of the Southern Transitional Council Aidarous al-Zubaidi.

The government side was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Salem Al-Khanbashi, while Dr. Nasser Al-Khabaji represented the Southern Transitional Council in signing the agreement.

The agreement, sponsored by Saudi Arabia among allies against Houthi militias, establishes a new phase of cooperation and partnership, uniting efforts to end the coup and resume development and construction, especially in the liberated southern provinces.

The agreement provides for the return of the legitimate government to Aden within 7 days, the unification of all the military and security formations of the transitional council under the authority of the ministries of interior and defense, and the formation of an efficient government equally between north and south Yemen.

The basic principles of the agreement include:

▪️Commitment to full citizenship rights and renunciation of sectarian and regional discrimination.
▪️Stop abusive media campaigns.
▪️Unite efforts under the leadership of the coalition to end the Houthi coup.
▪️Cooperation against al-Qaeda and ISIS
▪️Formation of a committee led by Saudi Arabia to follow up the implementation of the agreement.
▪️Participation of the Transitional Council in the government delegation for final solution consultations.

Political and economic arrangements include:

▪️The government will start its work from Aden within 7 days of the agreement.
▪️Activating state institutions in the liberated governorates and paying salaries.
▪️Depositing state resources in the Central Bank of Aden and disbursing under the budget.
▪️Activating the control and anti-corruption bodies and restructuring the Economic Council.
▪️The formation of a competent government of 24 ministers, divided between the North and the South.
▪️The selection of ministers who did not engage in fighting and incitement during recent events.
▪️Appointment of governor and director of Security in Aden within 15 days.
▪️Appoint governors of Abyan and Al Dhali within 30 days.
▪️Appoint governors and security directors in the rest of the southern governorates within 60 days.
