A senior UN official said Thursday that the parts of the missiles seized on their way to Yemen are very similar to the Iranian missiles.

The Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, confirmed that the weapons seized included precision weapons and advanced missile launchers.

Last month, US officials announced that a navy warship confiscated a "large amount" of guided missile pieces, in the Arabian Sea, that was on the way to the rebels in Yemen.

Some of the weapons used in the Aramco attack may come from Iran, the UN official said, at a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East.

DiCarlo expressed regret over Iran's reduction of its nuclear obligations, stressing that Tehran's missile activities threaten the region.

She also expressed concern about the serious repercussions of the attacks on oil tankers in the Arabian Gulf waters and Saudi Aramco facilities during this year.

It pointed out that the Houthis' allegations regarding the attacks on Aramco installations and Abha International Airport were false and inconsistent with the information obtained in cooperation with the Saudi authorities.

She noted that Iran had tested ballistic missiles and failed to launch a satellite-carrying missile, calling on Tehran to limit its ballistic missile activities that pose a threat to the region.

She explained that the United States shared information indicating that one of the aircraft that attacked Aramco was 200 km north of the target.

It is noteworthy that a US report, on Thursday, revealed new evidence showing the possibility of Iran being involved in the attack on two Aramco oil facilities in September.
