A government commission of inquiry confirms the continued high level of violations during the year 2019

The National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations issued a report on its activities for the past year 2019, in which it confirmed the high level and diversity of violations in Yemen since the beginning of the war and the expansion of the area of military operations during the same year.

The commission stated that it has monitored and investigated at least 1,500 targeting against civilians committed by all parties, and the Houthi militia has been at the forefront of violations, including nearly a thousand murders, including women and children.

The commission documented and investigated 1518 cases of enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention and torture, 115 cases of extrajudicial killings, in addition to 81 cases of child recruitment and 42 incidents of house bombings and displacement of 845 families.

The commission also investigated five incidents of civilian shelling of US drones, and 11 cases of targeting, destroying, and attacking cultural and historical objects.

The Committee renewed its call to all the conflicting parties in Yemen to adhere to the principles of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
