Aden, like the rest of the Yemeni governorates, witnessed a sudden interruption of the internet service, last Thursday, and confused all sectors, especially the economy, with causing a cessation of life in many cities.

The interruption of the internet led to the suspension of banking operations, as Salah Salem, the owner of the Al-Yafi Exchange, confirmed that all transfers were stopped, and all banking transactions - except for foreign exchange - were interrupted due to their connection to the Internet, while some of the exchange benefited from the Aden Net network to resume their work.

The researcher Ahmed Al-Yafie explained the great impact of the internet outage, as the Internet is an integral part of different people's practices. Everything from shopping, banking, obtaining information to searching for entertainment is now online. So its disruption will be a shock to society.

After the social media stopped working, the communication between the families, some of whose relatives lived abroad, was interrupted, which led to those residing abroad to bear the costs of international communications to check on their relatives.

Abdallah Al-Hussami, one of the wholesalers, said that the discontinuation caused confusion in the labor market, in particular, to ensure the arrival of goods and an obstruction in the commercial records, most of which were recently uploaded on the World Wide Web.

Ahmed Mahmoud Taha complained to Newsyemen, who is the owner of "Fox Net", that he incurred huge losses due to the reluctance of customers to enter his shop, because he was unable to download matches, movies and series.

One of the workers, Farooq Ali, complained, "For us, the internet interruption is a catastrophe, as the shop is only online."
The director of Sheikh Othman Mukhtar Ashraf Post Office told "Newsyemen": The interruption of the internet service has confused the process of posting salaries and paying bills of all kinds.

On the other hand, Muhammad Al-Rashidi, from Al-Aidarous Travel Agency, considered the service interruption a disaster, as flight reservations and money transfers were stalled.

Lawyer Sultan Ahmed Saeed pointed to the isolation that occurred in the judicial sector and was affected by this discontinuity, as the files and the collection of information for judges and lawyers were stalled due to the internet being interrupted.

The translation and printing offices were forced to close their doors and stop working, as all their dealings are through correspondence, which requires internet service.

The demand for satellite service has increased in recent days, especially by the offices of international organizations and private establishments located in Aden, which have stopped part of their work due to the inability to send their correspondence abroad because of the internet interruption

The telecommunications company "Aden Net" announced, a few days ago, the provision of new routers at a price of "53,000" Yemeni riyals, which led to the influx of citizens and standing in long lines. Some took advantage of this crisis, causing them to sell the device after obtaining it for an amount that may reach four times its original price.

It is worth noting that the Minister of Communications Al Houthi, in a previous press conference, denounced the users of the internet and social networks, and stressed the procedures for "rationalizing" the use and limiting the hours available for service, while sources saw that this step is an official announcement that inaugurated a new phase of the war, on the internet and communication and messaging.
