On Thursday, the United Nations Security Council, in a statement adopted unanimously, called for an "immediate cessation" of hostilities that threaten the political process in Yemen.

"The members of the Security Council are very concerned about the great escalation of violence in the voracity and the hollow, and its impact on civilians, thousands of whom have been displaced in the past few days," the statement said.

The statement stressed the need to maintain the cease-fire in Hodeidah, in accordance with the commitments made in Sweden in December 2018.

Likewise, the members of the Security Council called for "ending all intimidation against humanitarian workers" and for ensuring "unimpeded access" in particular to the north of the country.

This statement was issued after an emergency session of the Security Council held on Tuesday at the request of the United Kingdom.
