Jalal al-Sharabi, a journalist and political writer, reported on Sunday that Sultan Al-Arada, the governor of Marib, loyal to the Islah Party, the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, sent envoys to meet leaders of the Houthi militia in Sanaa.

Al-Sharabi said, tweeted on his Twitter account, that “the Governor of Marib dispatched envoys to meet with Houthi leaders in Sana'a to negotiate and draft an agreement that would ensure that the Houthi militia did not advance towards the city of Marib.”

He added that the envoys held three meetings so far in a technically equipped headquarters in Haddah Street in the center of the capital, Sanaa, while transferring the sources of “publishing clips of negotiations between the two parties.”

According to al-Sharabi, the Yemeni presidency is aware of the negotiations between the governorates of Al-Jawf and Marib, on the one hand, and the Houthis on the other.

He stated that Al-Arada and Al-Akaimi raised messages to the interim president, Abd Rabuh Mansour Hadi, to notify him of negotiations with the Houthis, and to obtain his approval for them, he said.
