The National Resistance affirms "readiness to discuss the steps and mechanisms for implementing a permanent ceasefire" (statement)

 The National Resistance Command welcomed the announcement of the leadership of the Coalition Joint Forces of a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen for a period of two weeks, starting on Thursday, April 09, subject to extension.

A statement issued by the National Resistance Command and the Republican Guard forces said: This initiative reflects the seriousness and sincere desire to lead the joint coalition forces led by brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to support efforts to end the war and bring peace to Yemen, and to create conditions for the implementation of the United Nations Secretary-General's call to ceasefire around the world and focusing efforts to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (19-COVID) , as well as inviting the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffiths, to ceasefire and reduce escalation.

The statement renewed the commitment of the Republic’s Guard forces to a ceasefire in the governorate and city of Hodeidah in implementation of the Sweden agreement despite the daily violations by the Houthis, support of the efforts of the United Nations and its envoy to Yemen to end the war and build a peace path, put an end to the suffering of our Yemeni people, and unite efforts to work to confront the risks of potential proliferation  Coronavirus, which may lead to a humanitarian catastrophe.

The statement stressed the readiness of the national resistance to discuss the steps and mechanisms for implementing a permanent ceasefire in Yemen under the supervision of the UN envoy, implementing confidence-building steps, and supporting the resumption of the political process between the parties to reach a comprehensive and just political solution that preserves Yemen's security and stability and does not neglect the sacrifices of Yemenis.
