The Southern Transitional Council extends the curfew times for two weeks in Aden

A joint meeting of the National Transitional Council and the military and security leaders approved, on Saturday, the amendment and extension of curfews for a period of two weeks, starting next Tuesday, April 14, 2020 in the temporary capital of Aden and the southern governorates.


The meeting, chaired by Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, President of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, discussed the measures required to confront the Coronavirus "Covid 19", after the announcement of the discovery of the first confirmed infection with the virus, in the Al-Shahr District of Hadramout Governorate.



The meeting approved the total closure of the khat markets, and prevented the opening of new points for the sale of khat in the capital, Aden, and the southern governorates, as of 12:00 midnight on Sunday, and assigning the points and port officials in the governorates concerned to prevent its passage for a period of two weeks.


It also approved the closure of the land ports of Aden, with the continued closure of the land and air outlets, as well as the continued closure of restaurants, major commercial markets and malls.



The meeting affirmed the commitment of the Southern Transitional Council to the decision of the Arab coalition leadership to stop the ceasefire and dedicate efforts to confront the dangers of the Corona virus, stressing the need to intensify awareness campaigns to prevent corona virus through the media and publish emergency numbers to report any suspected cases of the virus.
