Sources working in international organizations revealed that the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, is blackmailing some organizations that provide aid to Yemen in some humanitarian fields.

The sources pointed out that the Houthi militias concluded agreements with some non-financing organizations such as Oxfam and the International Organization for Migration regarding the assistance provided by these organizations and programs that they implement in Yemen, noting that these agreements that were made with the militias through the so-called Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs turned into an issue through which the militias blackmail these organizations.

According to the sources, the threats made by the Houthi leader, Muhammad Ali Al Houthi, in which he indicated that he would publish videos about the signed agreements on distributing aid in cash: it is a blackmailing operation for these organizations and not for the United Nations organizations as he claims, stressing that the United Nations organizations have so far rejected the mechanisms of militia action through what is called the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, and considers it an illegal entity and an institution through which militias practice corruption and theft of aid, which is one of the main reasons that led to the United Nations reducing humanitarian aid to Yemen by one billion dollars.

According to the sources, the militia's extortion operations are not new to the international organizations, as the militias put many obstacles in the way of the organizations' work with the aim of blackmailing them and modifying their aid programs in their favor, or at least obtain part of the support provided by these organizations.
