Hodeidah / Al-Mocha, Newsyemen, private:

Houthi militias multiplied the measures taken to collect money and levies on merchants, vendors and the shop owners in the city of Hodeidah during the month of Ramadan.

Militias imposed sums on store owners, restaurants, stores, tailors, various workshops, groceries, and hotels as a war effort, in addition to collecting other levies under the titles of Zakat and annual taxes.

People complain about the deterioration of economic and living conditions and a significant decline in buying and selling with the continued stoppage of salaries, the lack of business and available income, and the multiplication of Houthi duties and levies.

An amount of at least one thousand riyals is required for a war effort on every person, sellers and workers of sidewalks and owners of small stalls.

Militias hold semi-daily meetings to tighten procedures and implement security campaigns to collect funds in the city of Hodeidah, in addition to the various directorates under the control of the Houthis, the sums collected new fees on farmers and merchants.

Simultaneously, cities and capitals of the northern and northeastern directorates and those that are subject to militias in southern Hodeidah witness similar movements to raise funds from all sellers, merchants, farmers, small shop owners, exhibitions, workshops, stalls, and small stalls owenrs in popular markets.

And Ramadan is a season of collecting money with distinction from the militias, which use all methods and various pretexts to double financial assumptions in the name of "the war effort, support of the mujahideen and the fronts, zakat, and taxes ....".
