Mocha, Newsyemen, private:

On Tuesday, the Municipal Council of Mocha district implemented a field inspection campaign on the shops that are believed to have a food monopoly.

The campaign came after accusations against a number of Mocha traders from hiding some foodstuffs, including wheat, and selling them at high prices.

The disappearance of wheat led to the increase in the price of the bag to 15,000 riyals in the city of Mocha, and about 18 thousand and 20 thousand riyals in other coastal directorates, but wholesalers say that the lack of wheat is related to grain silos in the city of Aden.

The services and financial official, Abdullah Al-Sarraji, and Othman Tahoush, the official of the Social Affairs Committee, went to a number of shops accompanied by security forces.

Members of the council called on merchants not to monopolize commodities with the opening of stores that have remained closed since the start of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

They suggested strict measures against violators and referred them to the judicial authorities.
