The assassination of photojournalist Nabil al-Qayiti was widely condemned by Yemeni and southern journalists after he was assassinated tuesday in front of his home in Dar Saad in the capital Aden.
In a statement, the Independent Southern Group condemned the continuing campaigns of incitement against southern media militias launched by The Brotherhood militias under the cover of legitimacy in Abyan and Shabwa.
The group, a bloc of human rights defenders, said that the continuing attacks and the language of threats and incitement against journalists and journalists are a reminder of the Houthi invasion of Aden and that the situation is even worse today with arrests and assassinations.

The group called on the security services to provide all safeguards and protections to journalists and human rights activists as one of the country's most important security and security valves, and human rights organizations and the international community to act to protect journalists and media professionals in the south who have been subjected to the most heinous campaign of intimidation and killing in the last decade.
In the same vein, the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate named journalist Nabil al-Qaiti, a journalist working for Agence France-Presse, and a number of media outlets who were assassinated by an unknown gang today in front of his home.
The union called on the security authorities to speed up the investigation and uncover the perpetrators and refer them to the courts for their deterrent punishment.
Al-Qaiti was an active young photographer who participated in covering events in Aden and neighbouring southern provinces.
