Coronavirus invades Taiz, and the emergency committee announces a health disaster in the governorate

A spokesman for the Emergency Medical Committee to tackle the Corona pandemic in Taiz Ahmed Mansour, in a video posted on the Facebook page of the Health Office, said that the governorate is in a catastrophic situation due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus due to the lack of commitment to the precautionary procedures during the holidays.
The governorate of Taiz is witnessing a large increase in the number of infected cases with the Coronavirus, as well as the number of deaths, in contrast to the reported cases that are only those that reach the central laboratory and the two isolation centers in the Republic and the Shafak Center of Sheikh Hammoud al-Mikhlafi.
Several deaths were recorded over the past days with symptoms of the Coronavirus, and there are not single cases of death but two deaths in one family, and 3 cases in another family, and multiple bilateral cases, which doctors considered a widespread spread of the Corona pandemic.
Doctors, journalists, activists, officers, and officials were infected with the virus, in an indication that the virus has even reached the class that takes precautionary measures, while death announcements and condolences on social networking sites reveal a significant rise in deaths, in the absence of a body that records daily death figures as is happening in Aden Governorate, for example.
Al-Rawdha Hospital was closed for sterilization after its administration announced that there were cases recorded among the medical staff, while doctors considered that the precautionary procedures in hospitals are not enough, as hospitals have turned into hotbeds for transmitting the infection with the virus.
The renal dialysis center at Al-Thawra Hospital is also closed for sterilization after recording infected cases among patients, the death of 8 patients and one of the patient’s contact, and the infection of 6 other patients with kidney failure.
While medical sources warned of a catastrophe threatening the lives of about 250 patients with kidney failure receiving dialysis in the center, in addition to the large number of accompanying patients and the medical staff who are about 30 people in the center.
Amidst this acceleration in deaths and infection, the authorities are absent from their role, even in providing the oxygen cylinders that good men and activists rushed to provide to the health isolation center in the Republican Hospital.
Patients also bear heavy treatment costs while they are in the Republican.
Private hospitals refuse to accept those infected or suspected to be infected with the Coronavirus, and if they do, it is decided to conduct radiation for them, as the value of the CT scan reaches 100 thousand riyals.
