A source confirmed that the governor of Socotra, Ramzi Mahrous, arrived in Oman from Shabwa, the day after the southern forces announced securing the entire island and completing control of its capital.

The source pointed out that the governor who left Socotra after the forces of the Southern Transitional Council seized control of the center of the island, with its capital Hadiboh, and the headquarters and main centers therein, arrived in al-Ghaydah, the capital of Shabwa governorate, at noon on Sunday, from which he moved to the Sultanate of Oman.

The accelerating developments, at the beginning of this week, represented a major shift in the course of events after months of tensions, while observers and politicians considered that ending the Brotherhood's control of Socotra deprived Turkey of a platform of influence in Yemen on the impact of increasing public calls for Turkish intervention.

On Saturday, a member of the Transitional Council, Salem Al-Awlaqi, said that the southern forces took control of the Special Forces camp, the last strongholds and camps of the Muslim Brotherhood militias in Hadiboh Socotra, and control all weapons, crews, and military equipment of the Brotherhood's militias.

The southern forces declared a general amnesty and began implementing the autonomous administration of Socotra.
