Abyan, NewsYemen:

The fighting resumed in Abyan Governorate, on Monday evening, after artillery shelling of the Muslim Brotherhood on the southern resistance sites, hours after the coalition announced the acceptance of the legitimate government and the Transitional Council to stop the escalation and implement the Riyadh agreement.

Local and other field sources told "Newsyemen" that the clashes erupted in the Sheikh Salem and Soft Front with various types of heavy, medium and light weapons.

Local residents in Zanjubar spoke that artillery shelling was shaking the city, in reference to the Brotherhood's use of heavy artillery to target southern resistance sites.

The clashes come despite the parties accepting the coalition's call to end the war, cease-fire and military escalation, but Brotherhood militias violated the armistice in the first hour.

The coalition had issued a call for a ceasefire and an urgent meeting between the legitimacy and the transitional implementation of the Riyadh agreement, and the invitation was welcomed by both parties, but the clashes on the ground did not stop.

Southern Transitional Council welcomed, on Monday 22 June 2020, the call of the Arab coalition for a ceasefire in the governorate of Abyan, as well as stop the escalation in the rest of the southern governorates.
