Bank transfers paralysed after bank strike for second day

The strike, which continued for the second day, completely paralysed the exchange and remittances operation in Aden, amid the emergence of black market changers, as the central bank announced that it was continuing its field campaign to inspect exchange facilities despite their closure.


Al-Karimi joined the closure of its doors today in all areas of the capital Aden, with a massive strike launched by the exchange facilities yesterday, in protest against the central bank's feet on the closure of a number of licensed exchange facilities.


The Central Bank of Yemen -Aden has stopped transferring funds from government-controlled areas to Houthi-controlled areas to reduce the depreciation of the local currency after the flow of domestic cash in Aden and continued exchange rate disparities between the two regions.
