Torrential torrents cause the interruption of Internet service in Hadhramaut

The heavy torrential rain led to the isolation of Hadhramaut Governorate from the outside world after the internet service was completely cut off on Tuesday noon.

According to the "Newsyemen" reporter in Seiyun, the Hadhramaut valley center, the internet service was completely cut off from the province with the governorates of Marib and Shabwa.

An official source at the General Corporation for Communications in Hadramaut said that the rain floods caused the removal of a number of cables for the transmission of Internet service east of the Hadhramaut valley, which are fed to a number of governorates.

He indicated in a statement that work is underway to repair the cable by sending a specialized team for its maintenance, and the service will return once the maintenance work is completed.

Earlier, the General Manager of the General Authority for Communications in Hadhramaut, Hassan Jamaan Baharitha, confirmed that the internet service fibers are subject to occasional interruptions as a result of rain or even a deliberate sabotage operation, due to the reason that it appears above the ground in a number of places, and its proximity to the places of floods, water and sanitation, and due to what was left behind by Hurricane Laban, which struck the coasts of Mahra governor and caused a disruption in the communications system.

Internet points are spread throughout the directorates of Wadi and Hadhramaut desert, with a fixed line phone numbering approximately (64 thousand) points.
