The commander of the so-called Ataq axis, Aziz Nasser Al-Ateeqi, sacked the commander of the 1st Battalion and Rapid Intervention, Major Ahmed Lashqam, and appointed a family close to the commander of the Special Security Forces as his replacement.

Military sources reported that the governor of Shabwa Muhammad Saleh Adiyo and Abd Rabuh La’kab, commander of the Special Security Forces (militias loyal to the Islah Party, the local branch of the Brotherhood), pressured the leader of the Ataq axis to dismiss Major Majad Shaqam and appoint Ahmed Jarriba al-Sharif (son of Abd Rabbuh La’kab) as commander of the battalion.

The sources pointed out that the expelled commander of the battalion has been with the Muslim Brotherhood in Shuqra, Abyan Governorate, for months.
