Aden, Newsyemen:

On Friday, August 7, 2020, the Executive Office of the Capital Secretariat, Sana'a, revealed the death of two abductees in the prisons of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen.

A statement by the office said that the Monitoring and Documentation Unit of the Human Rights Office at the Amanah received a report of the death of two of the abductees in the prisons of the Houthi militia in Sana'a.

The statement clarified that the cause of death was the result of deliberate medical negligence that deprived them of the necessary health care, considering this a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law and all international charters, agreements and protocols that provide for the care of prisoners and detainees and determine the basic rules that regulate their treatment and conditions of detention.

The statement considered the torture of the Houthi militia, prisoners and forcibly disappeared, and denying them their human rights, "a blow to the peace process and a treacherous stab to the Sweden agreement."

And it warned of the consequences of the Houthi militia’s continuing violations and crimes against prisoners and abductees.

The statement called on the United Nations, the international envoy to Yemen, the Security Council, the Human Rights Council and all international organizations and agencies concerned with human rights, as well as local organizations to condemn these practices against those who lost their freedom in prisons.
