One and a half year old child died on Saturday, hours after arriving at Al-Khawkha Directorate for treatment, after he developed a brain fever that made him lose his ability to breathe, but the lack of a ventilator prevented his life from being saved.

The writer and human rights activist Mujahed al-Qab said, in a post on his Facebook account, that the child, Ahmed Fahd Aoun, died after his parents were unable to obtain a ventilator to save him from a brain fever, which he contracted during his medical treatment to Al-Khokha.

Al-Qab added, "The problem of the costs of transporting the child to Aden, at dawn today, was solved, but he could not bear it, so his heart collapsed, and his brain stopped."

He explained, "His parents took him back to the city of Tuhaita with a lifeless body, after he was just yesterday filling their lives with joy."

Al-Qab criticized the lack of ventilators in all directorates of the West Coast, including the MSF Surgical Hospital and the General Hospital of Mocha.
