The people of the "Al-Huqb" area near the city of Damt in Al-Dhalea demanded the pro-Iranian Houthi militia; the speed with which to remove the mines that they planted during the past years.

"We, residents and people of Al-Huqb, demand that a specialized team, and an international and local committee, to inspect the landmines that were planted in Al-Huqb," the claim statement said.

Stressing that these devices and mines were planted in vital places without their will, and that they have become a source of anxiety and terror for the population.

This came after two citizens were injured after being run over by internationally prohibited mines and IEDs, the last of which was yesterday, Sunday, August 9, 2020, when the young man, Khalil Al Dhaheri, was injured while he was working on his tractor.

Citizens affirmed that every war has a morality, and it is the ethics of war to clear all mines, whether they are armor (vehicles) or anti-personnel mines.

Muhammad al-Huqb, one of the activists from the region and a left-wing activist, indicated that random mine laying is a humanitarian catastrophe, and that such matters must be included in a geographical map that the parties can remove later.

He said that the region and many neighboring areas are still suffering and are paying the price until this moment due to the two sides wars in the seventies.

It should be noted that the Al-Houthi region is among the areas where intense battles took place, between the southern resistance and the terrorist Houthi militia that took control of it.

There are many questions, the most important of which is why the Houthi group still has reservations not to clear mines in the areas it controls.

There has been no accurate statistic, until now, of the number of mines in this particular area, nor the size of the geographical area in which the mines are located.

On the other hand, the torrential rains and torrents that flowed in several regions and governorates revealed a large quantity of mines and IEDs planted by the Houthi militia.

Media outlets and news reports had reported news and pictures of mines and IEDs recently shown by the torrents, which confirmed the scale of the disaster left by this group.

Al-Hodeidah Governorate, with all its directorates, comes first in terms of the number of mines that the militia planted.

Reports submitted by the demining teams indicate the existence of large areas that have been cultivated at random, which will cause a future disaster.
