The Southern National Coalition, a component of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen, intends to hold a demonstration in Ataq, the capital of Shabwa governorate, today.

This coalition is chaired by Ahmed Al-Eisi, an oil merchant and deputy director of the Presidency Office.

The coalition called for a demonstration against the Southern Transitional Council, to support the legitimate government, and to preserve the current governor of Shabwa, Muhammad bin Adio.

The Brotherhood believes that the loss of Ibn Adiou means the loss of Shabwa, which they tightened control over in August of last year.

In parallel, local sources in the city of Ataq said that dozens of vehicles arrived from Marib to the city at dawn today, Sunday, to participate in the demonstration.

For about a week, the Brotherhood has been mobilizing in Shabwa, so the crowd looks at least moderate.

An informed source said that representatives of the coalition promised to distribute 5,000,000 riyals to everyone who participated in the demonstration, and they also struck deals with taxi drivers that lead to the distribution of sums of money as a tip for everyone who brings citizens to the demonstration.

African migrants were seen in Shabwa carrying plates of the National Coalition, indicating that the latter had mobilized them.
