The Houthi militia prevented farmers from harvesting dates in several areas of the West Coast.

The spokesman for the Giants Brigades, Mamoun Al-Muhajami, said that the Houthi militia fired on farmers in the towns of Al-Suwaiq and Al-Mugharis and separate areas west of Zabid, to prevent them from reaching their farms and harvesting dates, especially Al-Manasif, in its current season.

He added, in a post on Facebook, "Whenever citizens and farm owners try to approach their farms to harvest their crops, the militia fired live bullets on them, forcing them to flee and depriving them of their annual harvest."

He stressed that the militias deprived farmers of their fees for a whole year of care and attention, and inflicted heavy losses on farmers and wasted their efforts and made them stand unable to provide a living for their children.

The Houthi militia planted mine networks that included most of the farms in Tihama, and those mines remained the most prominent obstacle in preventing farmers from reaching their farms, killing dozens of them, most of them children and women, in addition to the destruction of thousands of palm trees due to the inability of farmers to water them.
