Ibb, Newsyemen:

Dozens of shop owners carried out an open protest, as they closed their shops to reject the arbitrariness of the powerful and the high tax fees.

The pictures showed free and completely paralyzed markets, which the sources said were merchants in the "Around Hammam" area near the old central city of Ibb.

Reports and news received from the governorate indicate that merchants and shopkeepers and malls are fed up as they face enormous tax bonds, in addition to the bullying of influential people.

This is apart from other levies that are taken in the form of zakat, duties and support for the fronts, celebrations of the Houthi holidays, and other unending banks, according to citizens.

Ibb governorate is the scene of many daily violence, bullying and killing operations, despite the presence of nearly dozens of agents and managers, in addition to the "community committee" that the militia has created above all government agencies.

Not to mention the "suicides" that have reached frightening rates at the republic level, due to the disruption of salaries, the proliferation of militants and the increase in kidnappings, and finally, the torrential rains and floods disasters.

On the other hand, activists and citizens were surprised by the increase in clear cases of corruption and the looting of revenues in light of the governorate’s lack of most basic services.

Reports confirm that many tenders were launched in surveying some dirt streets and millions of riyals, and the main streets and roads were deliberately neglected and left without maintenance.

According to the sources, the matter is related to the plunder of new agricultural lands by a group of influential people in government departments affiliated with the Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen.

The sources emphasized that the splitting process that took place in the "Dabbari" area and elsewhere is not a priority as it is agricultural lands, but it comes within the framework of serving some officials and supervisors who have land there and not serving the public interest.

While many areas of the city suffer from poor water and sanitation services, and rainwater congestion due to the lack of maintenance of the streets and floods, the militia imposes royalties, fines and additional taxes, and no one knows where to go.
