Dozens of citizens demonstrated in Damt district in Al-Dhalea governorate to protest against the Houthi militia’s raiding of shops and the confiscation of the new currency, in a Houthi attempt to impose dealing in the old currency in the remaining areas under its control.

Popular anger against the Houthi militia increased in the wake of the militias launching a wide-ranging campaign of raids that targeted money-exchange shops, shops and large sums of money in the new currency.

Sources told "NewsYemen" that clashes took place between the Houthi militia and angry demonstrators who refused to confiscate the new currency.

According to eyewitnesses, the demonstration was met with live bullets fired by gunmen affiliated with the militia.

The sources did not refer to injuries and deaths among the demonstrators, but they confirmed that tension is still the master of the situation, and that the matter is likely to explode and a state of anger has grown against the arbitrary practices of the Houthi militia against the people of the city.

In a different context, a group of citizens in Ibb governorate marched on foot, calling on the local authority of the Houthi militia to speed up punishment and justice for Raad and his sister, who were brutally killed weeks ago.

The demonstrators took a protest stand in front of the Public Prosecution building, demanding that the perpetrators be brought to trial quickly and the harsh punishment be inflicted on them.

It is worth noting that the Ibb governorate is witnessing an unprecedented security chaos, so that not a day passes without a murder, violation or looting.
